Keto Diet Explained! Quick and Easy Rules of the Keto Diet

Keto Diet Explained! The best summary of this diet is “no sugar, no starch, high fat.” Say those words out loud. Again. No sugar. No starch. High fat.
Step 1: No sugar. No starch. High fat.
The best summary of this diet is “no sugar, no starch, high fat.” Say those words out loud. Again. No sugar. No starch. High fat.

Step 2: Remember the Number 20
It is critical as I will explain later. For now, commit this number to memory:
Step 3: Buy Urine Ketone Strips I hate even to have to say this, but I recommend you buy something. Yes, as a physician who has been subjected to more multi-level marketing pitches than I care to admit, typing this recommendation makes me uncomfortable. But it is necessary.

To succeed at switching your fuel source from sugar to fat, you need to know if you are producing ketones. Spend some money. Ketone strips typically cost about $15. (affiliate link):

Buy a Keto Food Guides (Beginners love this!):

1) “Doc, what BLOOD KETONE METER do you recommend?”
ANSWER: FORACARE: (Promo-code: Dr.Boz)
It’s accurate and takes only ONE test-strip to get results. YES!!
2) “Doc, what can I have while fasting?”
Salt + water are best.
Pocket Salt: (Promo code: DrBoz)
Salt Sucking Rocks: (Promo code: DrBoz)
Sounds weird but it’s strangely satisfying.
Black coffee – I prefer cold brew coffee.
Fasting tea. My favorite = Pique Tea Instant Crystals:
Bergamot Black Tea:
Pique Teas have great flavor and the highest antioxidants possible. They
freeze dry their tea into crystals. Pique Tea acts like instant tea … with
GREAT TASTE. Not bitter. Not moldy.
Ketones-In-A-Can is also a nice option during a fast. If you have to have
something, use ketones to strengthen your metabolism during your fast.
Bone broth
3) “Doc, how do you know if you’re eating the right fat?”
Measure it. Your Red Blood Cells keep track of the fat you eat. The “skin”
of your red blood cells show the answer. Order the test and do it at
home. Mail it in for your results. No doctor’s order needed.

  1. If you can’t clean out your cupboards keep your things separate. I put everything on the top shelf that I can’t see. Then the kids ask dad for a snack and he can reach and get it.

  2. In one sense, I was lucky because I ditched processed sugar years ago. But I had no idea about how bad carbs were. I was eating 'better' quality carbs – such as low g.I. bread and pasta, but I still couldn't lose weight.
I started by trying to heal a fatty liver and the weight started falling. Currently I've lost 42 pounds and I've sorta fallen into Keto. I'm loving it!

  3. I've just stopped eating all sugars, stopped snacks between meals, cut down to 2 meals a day with intermittent fasting from my last meal about 5.30 pm to my first meal next day about noon. I doubt that's keto cos I eat some carbs but I'm losing the belly anyway.

  4. So sugar is the enemy , what about artificial sweeteners? I have a beginners keto snack and grocery list which berries are on that list and tomato. I know it's natural sugar but how much and how often, I'm so confused ( and I'm a fanatic for fruit, I have to have some here and there ) . How often do you eat , calories and how much? Do you fry everything in butter or lard ? At this time I don't have the financial resources to pay for a keto app to keep track of calories and macros ( so are there any suggestions for this) .
